Futsal – also known as five-a-side football – has come to Kfar Nabel, an opposition-held town in the Idlib region.
A special project funded by the local Union of Revolutionary Bureaus (URB) saw work on a small football pitch begin in June 2015. It was completed two months later.
The URB took a piece of wasteland and turned it into a 30 x16 metre football pitch, and is now considering using it as a football training ground. Future plans include teaching football to children aged between nine and 15, and training over-18s up as referees.
