Damascus
The activist Wael Al-Hamadah, husband of the lawyer and human rights activist Razan Zaitouneh, was arrested Wednesday May 11, at his workplace. His brother had already been arrested on April 30 during a raid of al-Hamadah´s apartment in Damascus. The family has not heard from him since then.

Military court sentenced political activist Ahmed Matouk to two months in prison over his participation in recent Syrian protests. Matouk was arrested on April 10. He is a member of the Socialist Union Party.

Over two hundred detainees, who were detained during the recent protests in Syria, were referred to the Justice Palace in Damascus today after they were subjected to brutal torture in security branches during their detention

The university asked medicine students to sign a declaration stating “I apologize for what I have done to disturb general manner, norms, and good behavior inside the university. I ask for forgiveness and I hereby promise never to do anything that disturbs the norms and morals inside the university and outside it, and never to damage university properties and its equipments and materials, and never to undertake any political activities that does not comply with the laws and rules and regulations. if I ever do any of the afore mentioned then I bare the legal and criminal responsibilities under the law for regulating universities in 2006 and its applied details.”

Eyewitness from Inkel
An eye witness from Inkhel reported that the number of Martyrs in Al-Hara has reached 17 since the invasion of the 4th brigade. In Inkhel five people are reported dead, 47 wounded, and more than 250 detainees – among them children aged between 15-16 years.

Water and electricity are still cut off in Inkhel and Al-Hara. Army and security imposed a 24 hour curfew and didn’t allow bread makers to make any bread.

The Army was firing using 13.5 machine guns and artillery, two houses were completely destroyed in Inkhel. One inhabitant of the city assured  that soldiers defected and were trying to protect people from the army and security hits. He refused to give out any more details fearing the security service revenge from the families of defected soldiers
