‘From Activist to Activist’ Third Talk: with journalist Amer Mattar
Amer Matar
Amer Mattar is a journalist and documentary filmmaker. He is currently the director of Al-Sharii’ Media and Development organization, and he writes for several Arabic newspapers.
He is a member of the first elected administrative body of the Syrian Journalists Association, and a board member in its new media committee. Mattar was a director of the “Syrian street” festival that included various cultural events, celebrating the first anniversary of the start of the Syrian Revolution. He also directed the “Colorful streets” festival, known as the “Syrian days of pluralism.”
Mattar covered different events in the Syrian revolution, and produced documentaries including; “Smuggling, 23 minutes, a revolution”, and “Azadi”, for which he won a silver award in the Rotterdam Film Festival. He was arrested twice for several months in 2011.
