News Flash Syria, May 3
A demonstration took off from the dorms at Aleppo University on May 3 around 11pm. The students were calling for freedom and an end to the siege on all the Syrian cities. Around 1500 protesters joined, then riot police used teargas and arrested tens of students so far. Multiple sources confirm the use of live fire to disperse the protesters but no reports of injuries yet. Later on 3000 security forces surrounded the University dorms and seized most of the students’ cellphones and laptops. Arrests are said to still be ongoing.
A new wave of arrests took place in Daraa, a city still under siege. Communication is still cut off, and people are still not allowed to enter the city to provide food or any medicine. Vehicles of the security forces were all over the city today, and heavy gunfire was heard as well.
A Candle vigil demo took place the night of May,3 in Qameshli which later was broken up by security forces down with gunfires. They arrested the photographer Akram Darwish and seized his camera.
