A message of peace

Syrian Akil Ahmad is a graphic artist originally from Jarabulus in the north of Syria and now living in Beirut.
Ahmed specialises in Arabic calligraphy, which is categorized as a type of plastic arts. His inspirations are the cities of Damascus and Aleppo, and his emotions and nostalgia for Syria are present in all his paintings.
Oriental music is one of the most important elements of Ahmad’s work; he is passionate about music and considers that he paints music in his letters. After moving from Aleppo to Beirut, Akil mixed the history of Aleppo with the culture of Beirut, where he participated in many exhibitions, the most recent of which was Dar al-Nemr.
In 2015, Akil Ahmad received the Burda prize for Arabic calligraphy, a certificate of appreciation awarded by the ministry of culture, youth and community development in the United Arab Emirates (UAE0 and considered to be one of the most prestigious awards in this field.
